The Stonebridge Estate in North West London has a two reputations. The reputation that everyone outside the area knows about is the one of violence, drug culture and deprivation on a tough 1960's estate.

The reputation everyone in the area knows however, is the reputation Stonebridge has for producing top sporting talent.

A mystery then that the estate, which has 6,000 residents has practically no sporting facilities available on its doorstep.

Walking around Stonebridge, the potential for building a sporting community to be proud of is clear. The community is visibly young in age. Statistics bear this out; nearly half of the estate residents are under the age of 25 - a staggeringly youthful population then.

Recognising these issues, the regeneration agency responsible for phased rebuilding of the estate commissioned Leaps and Bounds to work with local community sports clubs to develop proposals for new sporting facilities and structured coaching programmes for young people.

The work has started with an interactive consultation exercise with younger residents inclusing interviews, planning for real events and detailed design and management workshops.

The images here give a flavour of the consultation and planning work in action. Keep track of progress by regularly visiting the site for updates.
