How we are funded

Leaps and Bounds funds community enterprise in two ways: – charitable funding support – provision of low-cost, not for profit professional servicesHow are we able to fund these services?

Leaps and Bounds draws its funding from returns on investments made in companies engaged in Low Carbon enterpise, the area of expertise of founder, Henry Woodlock. Generally, companies invested in provide sustainable energy generation or distribution, or design/manufacture products that reduce demand for carbon or reduce energy consumption.

What is community enterprise?

Through our extensive experience in community projects, Leaps and Bounds realises that lasting community regeneration is often started and led by community entreprenuers, local people with the vision to make change by using business enterprise thinking in a community setting.

Project Management

Community buildings are special places. On the one hand, they often comprise a whole range of activities for different ages and interests - the design must exclude nobody. On the other hand, budgets for the construction of community facilities can often be very restricted. Leaps and Bounds places a great deal of emphasis on striking the balance between a well-designed, elegant and functional building and the need to minimise capital expenditure.

The problem is, many of them never see the light of day, leaving many people disappointed and frustrated. Too often the creativity and determination of community groups is ground down by bureaucracy and lack of resources.

Getting started

From our experience in regeneration projects, we know that communities in Britain are alive with great ideas and vision, whether in education, sport, the arts or environmental projects. Sometimes though, it can be difficult to get ideas off the ground. As an individual or small organisation, funding can be difficult to find, time is short and administration requires a lot of skill and expertise. - we are all so busy.
